INTO THE WOODS
The mini forest in my high school campus has always been one of my favorite spots in school. I've always been dazzled by the way sunlight streaks through the leaves and showers the ground with golden spots. In this observational piece, I wanted to capture the magic of light.
SETTING THE BASE:
one of the tricky parts of this painting is figuring out the perspective in the trees. While the trees seem to be randomly scattered, they actually follow several lines of perspective. Laying that down along with the base colors were two steps that kickstarted this piece.
what I found to be the hardest part of this piece is to find the correct shade of warm tones that would emulate sunlight streaking through trees. Initially, I started the base colors much colder than I intended to. Therefore, it was a great challenge finding the right colors that would create the effect of a sunny warm afternoon.
